Day 1. Fly into
either Malaga or Granada airport and we will collect you at
a pre arranged time. From here we will transfer you to our base
in Lanjaron where you can build you bike and familiarize yourself
with the surrounding area. In the evening we will have a team
briefing and meal with a few beers to break the ice!
Day 2. We
depart from Lanjaron to head for the ski village to the east
of Granada. This is a nice ride into Granada where we have
lunch before hitting the famous Sierra Nevada climb. 35km
and over 2000m in one hit! For the really keen you can go
even further to over 3200m on Europe's highest tarmac road.
however, the base for the night is the ski village of Pradillano
at 2300m.
Day 2. From
here we head east towards Lugros after a fast descent into
Granada. Lugros is a stunningly beautiful, classic Andalucian
Village. The small, quite roads are an absolute pleasure to
ride as the scenery just gets better and better.
Day 3. You've
now had two tough but enjoyable days on the bike so a short
ride (or transfer) into Guadix for the afternoon. Guadix is
an amazing place with lots to explore. The City is again spectacular
and laced with Roman and Moorish ruins, great tapas bars and
fantastic cuisine.
Day 4. Another
big day as we head off for Yegan. This village is made famous
by the author Gerald Brennan who lived here for many years
during the civil war.
Day 5. Yegan
to Capileira via Trevelez for lunch! Trevelez is the highest
village in Spain (allegedly!) at 1550m. However, it is better
known for it's very fine cured ham. The bars here have ham
hanging from the ceilings by the ton. Cured here because the
air is the cleanest and most pure in Spain. Capileira is also
the highest of the three villages Pampaneira, Bubion and Capileira)
of the Poqueia valley with stunning views and scenery.
Day 6. From
Capileira we have a lot of height to lose which is always
good fun! The descent into Orgiva is fast but the road is
fantastic and the grip is incredible. From Orgiva we head
back to Lanjaron where we pack up the bikes and rest our very
tired legs in one of the many very good Tapas bars!
Day 7. A
day of leisure to explore the Alhambra Palace
and take in the sites of Granada. Many of our guests like
to relax and take it easy and use the opportunity to make
the most of the sun, fine wine and eat Paella, just to replenish
the depleted carbohydrate store of course!
Day 8. We
will transfer you and your bike back the the airport of your
choice after a hearty breakfast and good strong coffee...
